Job Title: Laboratory Assistant

We are seeking a Laboratory Assistant to assist with the testing of samples and perform work as allocated to high standards whilst adhering to our reputable turnaround times.
If you are an organised individual who can fit into the demands of a busy and forward-thinking department, then we want to hear from you. We are looking for a team player with good communication skills and a keen eye-for-detail to join us.
Key Responsibilities
• To perform work to a high standard within our reputable turnaround times and to inform the Team Leader
• To inform the Team Leader of any problems encountered in analysis, including possible malfunctioning of equipment
• To inform the Team Leader in advance if agreed deadlines for work completion are unlikely to be met
• To inform the Team leader when additional stocks of chemicals, kits and consumables need to be placed on order
• To ensure completion of all necessary documentation/records - temperature monitoring, pipette checks, combi start-up and shutdown, pilot definition sheets, relevant Elisa paperwork etc
• To ensure that all samples received are entered onto the laboratory management system and
• To ensure samples are transferred to their correct locations and complete sample transfer sheets
• To ensure that all laboratory areas are clean and clutter free at all times
• To be able to work both within a team as well as using own initiative
• To be computer literate, including a basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
• To have a flexible approach to allocated duties
• To ensure all communication surrounding laboratory results is sent to the correct people within an agreed timescale and in a professional format
